Aimee Sims for House District 21
My name is Aimee Sims, and I am running for State House District 21 in Northeast Anchorage.
My Alaska roots run deep. Both sets of my grandparents came to Alaska after World War II seeking opportunity, freedom, and a better future for their families. Their pioneering spirit instilled in me a deep appreciation for the values that make Alaska exceptional—hard work, self-reliance, personal responsibility, and strong communities.
I have proudly called Northeast Anchorage home since 1987. After earning my degree and teaching credential from The Master’s University, I returned to Alaska in 1997 to begin my career as an educator. For nearly three decades, I have worked with students and families, witnessing firsthand the importance of strong schools, engaged parents, and communities that support opportunity and success.
My husband, Matt, and I have been married for twenty-eight years and are blessed with four children. Two are currently serving our nation in the military, the other two are currently working and living in Alaska. Their commitment to service and responsibility reflects the values that have guided our family.
As a longtime resident of Northeast Anchorage, I see the challenges facing our community every day. Public safety is one of the most important issues facing Anchorage families. Like many residents, I have witnessed growing concerns about public safety, and I believe every person deserves to feel safe in their neighborhoods, parks, schools, and businesses. We must support law enforcement, hold criminals accountable, address the root causes of crime, and ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.
As a public-school teacher, active church member, community volunteer, wife, and mother, I understand the challenges facing Alaska families. I believe government works best when it is accountable, fiscally responsible, and focused on its core responsibilities. I support protecting individual liberties, defending constitutional rights, strengthening public safety, promoting economic opportunity, and ensuring Alaska remains a place where families can live, work, and thrive.
I am running for the State House because I believe Alaska needs principled, common-sense leadership that puts families, communities, and our state’s future first. I would be honored to serve the people of District 21 and bring their voice to Juneau.

My platform prioritizes safe neighborhoods, quality education, and fiscal prudence to safeguard our Permanent Fund while supporting responsible development of Alaska’s natural resources to bolster our economy and respect our natural heritage.
Education is crucial for our future, and I support strong funding to prepare our students for diverse challenges. In public safety, I am committed to addressing the root causes of crime to ensure our neighborhoods are secure.
In Juneau, I will promote transparent and accountable governance that aligns with our community’s values. I am focused on driving solutions that enhance both economic growth and the quality of life in our community. I am eager to run for House District 21 and seek your support to foster a thriving future for Northeast Anchorage, embracing the unique Alaskan spirit. Together, we can strengthen our community for current and future generations.
